Thursday, April 1st, 2010Low Back Pain Sarver
Wednesday, December 9th, 2009At a typically chiropractic office treat for low back pain consist of hands-on adjustment of the spine bones into proper alignment and sometimes physically therapy. So what you are probably wondering is how well chiropractic care will do for your back pain? Well I’ve scoured journals and other credible sources to give you some information on the effectiveness of chiropractic care and low back pain.
After reviewing a few journals I came across a study done on the effectiveness of chiropractic care on chronic low back pain vs medial or care from a family physician. The results are just astounding!
56% said it got better with chiropractic care and only 13% with the family physician or medical doctor. In fact here is exactly what was reported:
“Patients with chronic low-back pain treated by chiropractors showed greater improvement and satisfaction at one month than patients treated by family physicians. Satisfaction scores were higher for chiropractic patients. A higher proportion of chiropractic patients (56 percent vs. 13 percent) reported that their low-back pain was better or much better, whereas nearly one-third of medical patients reported their low-back pain was worse or much worse.”
— Nyiendo et al (2000), Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (view document)
This is quite amazing and it’s something that happens all the time in offices such as ours. But there are also more things you might be worried about such as the length of time it takes to get well and back to work. Well here is a quote I found from another study that also looked at the amount of time each of 3 treatment methods (chiropractic care, standard medical treatment and physical therapy).
“In terms of improving lost time from work, chiropractic care was similar to physical therapy; and as effective as or better than standard medical care.”
— Economics of Population Health: Inaugural Conference of the American Society of Health Economists (2006), Costs and Outcomes of Chiropractic Treatment for Low Back Pain: Evidence from the US and Australia (view document)
So as you can see by the reports published at these respected places chiropractic care is a very viable solution to low back pain Sarver or another other location! Please contact us for more information, to answer your questions or to schedule an appointment
Back Pain Sarver
Saturday, December 5th, 2009Having pain is never fun, especially if it’s pain in an area which stops you from doing normal activities. Such is the case with back pain. It’s one of the top worst areas people report having pain in. It’s even been the subject of discussion as to whether it’s worse than pain from child birth.
But if you’re viewing this page most likely you don’t need told how painful back pain can be. What you’re looking for is some relief and to get rid of what you’re feeling. The cause of your back pain can’t be diagnosed right here from this web page but at the very least I’ll go over some information that could help (please seek advice from a qualified medial or chiropractic doctor before trying anything listed on this page – we have to give that disclaimer :).
Ways to rest your back:
There are many things that can be done to rest your back and give it some needed relief. Below are just a few things that you can do.
- Lie down with your feet elevated – laying down with your feet elevated will put the body in a position where the most of the strain and weight will be off the lower back.
- When sleeping lie on your side with your knees bent. You may need to place a pillow between your knees to add support.
- Lie flat on your back with a rolled up towel to support your neck. Roll the towel up only as big as it is needed to support your natural arch of your neck – don’t over do it & don’t under do it. You may also place a folded blanket under your knees to add more support.
Permanently relieve your pain:
Although having ways to rest your back is great, I’m sure what you are after is to permanently relieve your back pain Sarver, Gibsonia or what ever location you live at. Understanding what it is that is the cause of your back pain is half the battle. In our office we focus on finding/discovering the cause of your physical problem, alleviating it and preventing it from occurring again (speeding recovery) with therapy. So if you have back pain or any other physical problem please feel free to contact us to schedule an appointment.
