Shoulder pain and rotator cuff tears...

When it comes to shoulder pain, it can be frustrating and annoying. We sometimes don’t realize how much we use our shoulders until it is painful to do everything! We use our shoulders to drive, get groceries, sleep, eat, etc.  Our risk of shoulder injuries, especially rotator cuff tears, increase as we age. The rotator cuff is made of 4 different tendons that form a “cup” around our shoulder joint. That is what allows us to reach out in front of our chest and above our head and back behind us. Having full range of motion of the shoulder is crucial when it comes to being able to function! Our shoulders are also connected to our neck and our midback and ribs so having a shoulder problem can also cause problems in the spine.  If you can’t reach fully above your head or if you have pain picking up items that are 10 lbs or less, you may need an evaluation to determine what type of shoulder issue is affecting you. Dr. Dawn and Dr. Zack specialize in treating shoulders! Along with providing gentle and effective adjustments to re-align the joints, rehabilitation can also be done to improve strength and function.
