Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

I wanted to take a moment to talk about Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Disorders. About 30% of women (and some men) will experience issues with their pelvic floor.

The pelvic floor is like a bowl of muscles, nerves, ligaments, and tendons that support the organs in our pelvis. Things like pregnancy, obesity, chronic coughing, pelvic trauma, birth injuries, and old age can be risk factors for developing pelvic floor disorders.

But honestly, here's the thing: It's not NORMAL to pee yourself with you cough, sneeze, laugh, carry the groceries in, run, exercise, etc!

As a chiropractor, a common question is "Do you have any issues with bowel or bladder function?" Don't be embarrassed - speak up! There are certain adjustments that can help reduce and even improve pelvic floor dysfunction and disorders. Also, there are certain exercises and nutritional factors that can improve that situation.

Stop living with leaks - let your chiropractor know what's going on!
